Hello my dear friends in Christ,
.
This month my family and I celebrated a most holy and special occasion: The First Holy Communion of Ashleigh, my Godchild. It was a most beautiful and sacred event in our lives and we are so delighted for her ability to now receive the Eucharist - "the source and summit" of the Catholic Church.
.
Thank you Lord for the precious gift of Yourself that we are invited to receive each and every day of our lives as Catholics.

I found this lovely prayer on CatholicOnline.com:

A Prayer for those who are preparing Children for their First Holy Communion

O Jesus,
who hast loved us with such exceeding great love
as to give us the ineffable gift of the Holy Eucharist,
inflame us with a burning zeal to promote Thy glory
by preparing worthily the little children
who are to approach Thy holy table for the first time.
Protect, O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
these young souls from the assaults of evil,
strengthen their faith,
increase their love and
endow them with all the virtues that will make them worthy to receive Thee.
Amen.

Blessings,
~ bella

Our niece, whom we are godparents to made her first holy communion last may at age 9.Since her parish required the full communion outfit,we helped out and bought her some of the required items.her mom and dad bought her the communion dress and veil with the shoes and gloves and then we got her the required under shirt, cloth diapers, rubberpants and tights.i helped my daughter dress her in the outfit and she looked gorgeous and dainty.it was a sunny day for the ceremony and walking into the church the sun glistened off the girls dresses and made it even more special.

Our daughter Faith, made her first holy communion at age 11,and our parish,St.Jeromes, required the full communion outfit.she wore a dress just like the one in the photo with the veil, gloves tights and white shoes.St.Jeromes considers the communion dress as an extension of the baptism gown the girls were originally baptized in,so faith and all the other girls had to wear a cloth diaper and rubberpants under their tights.i made the required diaper from sewing baby cloth diapers together to make one diaper and it had to be pinned on with diaper pins.she had white youth size rubberpants over it and the tights completely covered them.
